Quick answers

Fast facts before your visit. Your personal plan always comes from your care team.

Do I need a referral?

Most patients are referred by another physician. Call the office and we can tell you what is needed for your insurance and visit.

What happens at the first visit?

Dr. Gorty reviews your history and imaging, examines you as needed, discusses whether radiation may help, and answers your questions. Translation services are available for all languages.

Will I be radioactive after treatment?

With standard external beam radiation, you are not radioactive afterward and can be around family as usual. Some internal radiation (brachytherapy) or radionuclide treatments have special precautions — your team will explain those clearly if they apply to you.

How long is a typical course of radiation?

It varies by diagnosis and technique. Some courses are a few treatments; others are daily over several weeks. Stereotactic courses are often shorter. Dr. Gorty will outline the expected schedule before you start.

Do you accept my insurance?

Many major plans are accepted, but benefits and prior authorization differ. Call the office with your insurance information so staff can verify coverage.

What languages are available?

Clinic conversations are in English. Translation services are available for all languages — please tell the office when you schedule if you need an interpreter.
